Local Spotlight: Davenport Nursery Christmas Trees

Celebrating a third-generation family business bringing holiday joy to Southwest Florida.

At HeyNeighbor, we believe local businesses are the heartbeat of every community. Our Local Spotlight series highlights the owners, families, and stories behind the shops and services that make Southwest Florida feel like home. These are the businesses that greet you by name, show up for local causes, and keep our neighborhoods thriving.

Today, we’re excited to feature Davenport Nursery Christmas Trees, a family-run tradition that has been bringing holiday cheer to our area for generations.

About the Business

Tell us about your business — what do you do and who do you serve?
We’re a local, family-owned Christmas tree distributor proudly serving Naples, Ave Maria, Immokalee, Bonita, and Estero.

How did you get started, and what inspired you to launch your business?
As the third generation of Davenport Nursery, we decided to branch out and create something of our own. We love this time of year and the joy it brings, and we’re driven by a passion for making people smile.

What’s your favorite part about running your business in this community?
Our favorite part is seeing familiar faces year after year. We love catching up, watching kids grow, and meeting the new babies added to each family. Being local means we get to support our community year-round — whether it’s buying Girl Scout cookies, donating to schools and charities, or simply being there for our customers. The connections we’ve built are what make this so special.

The Local

What makes your business unique in your neighborhood?
We may ship in our trees from small farms in North Carolina, but we are truly local — living here, driving these streets every day, and raising our family alongside yours. Our family has been in business for over 30 years. While many seasonal tree distributors come and go, we’re here year-round, running this company with our children and serving the community we call home.

How do you stay connected with the local community?
We stay connected by sharing updates on Facebook, collaborating with local charities, and taking the time to visit and catch up with our customers every season.

What local partnerships or collaborations have been meaningful to you?
We’re grateful to give back by donating unused trees to Shy Wolf Sanctuary, supporting the First Baptist Academy youth baseball program, and contributing to the Salvation Army.

Challenges & Wins

What has been one of your biggest challenges, and how did you overcome it?
Balancing supply and demand is an ongoing challenge. We’re committed to offering the highest-quality trees at reasonable prices and continue refining our process each year.

What moment or milestone are you most proud of?
We’re most proud of the relationships we’ve developed through this business. Those lifelong connections mean everything to us.

Marketing & Growth

How have you used local advertising (like HeyNeighbor) to grow your business?
We haven’t yet — our marketing has focused mainly on Facebook and on-site signage.

What’s one marketing tip you’d give to another small business owner?
Digital marketing matters just as much as physical marketing or word of mouth. Use both.

Just for Fun

What’s your go-to lunch or coffee spot around here?
Twisted Sheep Pizza & Brew — it’s a must!

If your business had a theme song, what would it be?
“It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”

Any funny or surprising stories from working with local customers?
We once strapped a 12-foot tree to a Mercedes sedan — it was nearly as long as the car, but it made the trip!

Looking Ahead

What’s next for your business — any exciting plans coming up?
We plan to continue supplying beautiful trees to local families for years to come.

How can people best support you right now?
Come take a look at our trees — you’ll see the difference!
